If your encoder is malfunctioning, these methods might help.

1. How does the encoder retrieve points when reversing from the origin? For example, if you want to reverse 100 points, how do you set this data in the programming software? The read data is 8000000100. How do you interpret this data?

Note: 8 is the sign bit.

2. How far can the pulse data of a TONGHOW encoder be transmitted?

Note: Theoretically, it can reach 100 meters. It depends on the wiring.

3. The project requires the encoder to have pulse output function in both forward and reverse rotation. We have selected your company's TONGHOW encoder. I wonder if it can meet the requirements?

Note: It depends on your equipment requirements. An encoder will output pulses as long as it rotates.

4. How to connect an absolute encoder to a PLC?

Note: Absolute encoders generally have two output methods: one is serial output, which can be connected to the PLC communication port; the other is ordinary encoded output, usually Gray code. When connecting to the PLC, attention should be paid to the relationship between its pulse output frequency and the PLC input port resolution to avoid signal loss.

5. What are the reasons for the encoder experiencing pulse loss?

Explanation: First, and mainly, the problem is with the pulse receiver, such as pulse loss due to excessively high pulse frequency; another reason is the encoder itself, mainly due to excessively high ambient temperature, which causes the encoder to malfunction.

6. What conditions determine the selection of encoder models (e.g., contactors are selected based on control voltage, load power, and current)? What requirements determine the selection of encoders?

Instructions: First, determine the type of encoder, whether it is absolute or incremental (different uses); then confirm the resolution; next, select the signal output method, such as NPN output, voltage output, line drive output, or no output; also select the maximum speed, shape, installation method, operating temperature, protection level, etc.

7. What issues should be considered when using connecting cables for remote signal extraction? Does your company sell this type of cable?

Note: The length of the encoder cable is generally 0.5-3M. The cable length for open collector output mode should not exceed 10M. The cable length for line drive output can reach 200M. The encoder signal line should not be arranged in parallel with power lines or other lines that cause strong interference, and shielded cables must be used.
