Five common problems with serial port servers and their solutions:

Serial port servers are widely used in industrial control systems, but various problems may arise during practical application. Beijing Maisen introduces common problems encountered with serial port servers and their solutions.

Question 1: How to configure a serial port server?

Plan: Before configuring a serial port server, it is essential to consider your specific application scenario requirements. The parameters that need to be configured mainly include the serial port operating mode, network parameters, and device management information. Generally, serial port servers offer multiple configuration methods, including serial port access, web browser access, and a management interface.

Question 2: When multiple serial port servers are used as TCPClients, and the connection to the server is made via the public internet, but the server only has one open IP address and port, how can the connection be established?

Plan: The host computer is configured as a server via a virtual serial port. It uses a serial port helper to call the corresponding command code sent by the serial port to the slave device. As long as the device ID matches, the slave device will respond.

Question 3: Why does data loss occur when transferring files using a virtual serial port?

The problem is that data loss is mainly due to the difference in serial port transmission speed between when the virtual serial port program finishes sending data and when sending data to the remote device. The solution is to adjust the "simulated baud rate" setting within the virtual program.

Question 4: Can multiple computers simultaneously access a single serial port server?

The plan is to allow multiple computers to access the server simultaneously, but only one computer can connect to the serial port server at a time during polling. Furthermore, the polling will be automatic, requiring no manual configuration of other parameters.

Question 5: How do I configure the serial port and baud rate of a serial server?

Plan: In the equipment interface, go to "Plan Equipment", select a plan, and then go to "Serial Port Parameters".
