The switching power supply market is uneven.

For consumers, price is the most important factor when purchasing a switching power supply . However, in the current highly homogenized domestic switching power supply market, the price difference between two switching power supplies with the same wattage can be as high as 50% or even more.

When choosing a switching power supply, price shouldn't be the sole criterion. We must also consider factors such as brand, materials, workmanship, and after-sales service. This allows us to select the right power supply for our needs in a market rife with issues like misleading pricing and substandard products. In recent years, the switching power supply market has been characterized by cutthroat competition, significantly impacting manufacturers like ourselves. Manufacturers are struggling, with prices constantly dropping. Customers often compare prices from small workshops with those from reputable manufacturers. While some manufacturers may compromise and secure orders, it ultimately damages their brand image. So, what exactly accounts for the price difference between switching power supplies from small workshops and those from established manufacturers?

Typically, a switching power supply consists of numerous electronic components. Due to potential electrical hazards, it is a sealed product whose casing cannot be opened. This leads many users to judge its quality solely based on the wattage and price indicated on the power supply's nameplate. However, the inside of this seemingly simple "plastic box" is far more complex than we imagine. The materials used alone can affect 70% of a switching power supply's quality, while circuit design and manufacturing processes also play a significant role.

Besides rated power, stability is the most direct factor affecting user experience. In terms of materials, there are three grades on the market: the lowest grade uses recycled or counterfeit materials; the middle grade uses substandard materials; and the highest grade uses high-quality materials. Small workshops often use recycled or counterfeit materials, generic manufacturers use slightly better substandard materials, while only top-tier brands use the highest quality genuine materials. Although the price difference of a single electronic component may not be significant, for a switching power supply using dozens of components, the price difference in the quality of materials becomes quite noticeable. Therefore, two switching power supplies with the same power rating can differ in price by a factor of two, or even more.

From R&D and production to sales, a switching power supply requires a complete set of R&D, design, production, testing procedures, and after-sales service. To ensure that consumers receive switching power supplies with stable performance and high quality, every step in the process is crucial, and these are often details that consumers easily overlook when choosing a switching power supply. A qualified switching power supply, besides considering safety and conductivity factors in the initial design phase, undergoes multiple tests during manufacturing to verify compliance with initial design standards. After completion, it must undergo aging tests, electrical performance tests, high-voltage tests, and other stages, culminating in after-sales service. These R&D, production, and testing equipment and environments, as well as after-sales service, require significant investment from manufacturers. Currently, only reputable switching power supply manufacturers that have passed safety certification standards possess these capabilities.
