Practical Tips: The Role of the Spacing Plate in a Common Mode Inductor

2026-04-06 05:47:02 · · #1

In practical applications, inductors with two or more windings are separated by partitions between the windings. The most basic common-mode inductor has two windings, while there are also inductors with three or four windings. The partitions in the inductor serve several functions.

01

Ensure a safe distance between windings. When designing common-mode inductors, safety regulations require setting a safe distance between inductor windings based on actual conditions. To ensure the actual distance between windings, adding a partition of appropriate thickness will meet the requirements.

02

Ensure the safe use of common-mode inductors. Common-mode inductors are divided into input high-voltage AC common-mode and output DC common-mode. If the voltage between windings is too high, a separator is needed to isolate each winding to prevent short circuits caused by damaged wire insulation between windings, which could burn out the components.

In mass production, adding partitions is more suitable to ensure consistency. For products with high requirements, customers also require products to maintain a consistent appearance.
