01. Focus on the project
In 2009 , the long-established Arnreiter Mühle processing plant hired Swiss process technology experts to upgrade its grinding and machining systems, equipping all types of machinery with NORD drive solutions. After the upgrade, the plant's operating load was 1,400 kW .

Project Challenges
02. The Arnreiter Mühle processing plant in Austria employs various processes to grind and refine grains. The plant utilizes a series of equipment to perform processes such as cooking, peeling, crushing, grinding, extruding , roasting , cooling, drying, and milling on the grains, in order to extend their shelf life, improve digestibility and baking performance, and reduce bitterness.
■ Diverse Conveying Systems – A variety of conveying systems with flexible drive solutions are required for the efficient transport of particulate matter and free-flowing media between processes. ■ Hazards of Dust – During raw material refining, the entire environment surrounding the grinding mill is filled with dust particles, therefore the motor must be explosion-proof. 03. Application Solutions
NORD Drives' geared motors drive belt-driven and drum-type elevators to transport raw materials stored in rooftop silos to other processing equipment in the plant. All intermediate processing materials are then fed through a 2500- meter-long pipeline system. Low-density fractions, including hard fine particles and dust, are separated from the grain by air-circulating suction devices and discharged by screw conveyors. Rotary feeders ensure proper volumetric feeding. Small portions are added via micro-feeders.
■ Highly Durable Design – All material conveying and distribution systems are equipped with Nord geared motors. “ These motors operate continuously and reliably in our processing plant , ” says Martin Rachbauer , Arnreiter ’s Maintenance Manager .
