Relationship between Siemens PLC and Profinet remote I/O

2026-04-06 04:47:46 · · #1

Profinet protocol remote I/O is a data acquisition/transmission module with communication capabilities; it does not have its own control or regulation functions. It simply sends field data to a control center (such as a PLC) or receives data from the control center to control field devices.

Traditionally, control cables are used to connect to the PLC. However, with remote I/O, a single communication cable can connect to the PLC, saving on wiring and reducing the number of I/O points on the PLC itself.

Huajie Intelligent Control's Profinet remote I/O module adopts a communication mode between Siemens PLC and Modbus analog signals, supporting multiple analog inputs, digital inputs, and digital outputs. It supports RS485 Modbus to Profinet conversion and is compatible with Siemens 200 Smart, 1200, and 1500 series PLCs. Wiring is simple and convenient, and the communication cycle is as fast as one millisecond compared to the PLC scan cycle.
