Accessing machines or equipment is one of the most critical processes in industrial applications, where both machine safety and industrial safety must be considered. Ultimately, the choice of operating mode and access permission concepts ensure an efficient and secure process in this regard.
User-friendly and tamper-proof systems are key to ensuring process security. Pilz's PITmode fusion (Operating Mode Selection and Access Control System) provides security and safety in a single solution. It includes a PITreader unit with RFID technology , an integrated web server, and a Security Evaluation Unit ( SEU ). Each machine operator can obtain their own access rights via an RFID transponder key, which is read and taught in the PITreader unit. Only authorized personnel can access the machine or equipment, and it can only be started in a predefined operating mode. PITmode fusion can be used in conjunction with Pilz's security controllers.
Flexible system solutions for safety and industrial safety
From simple release and operating mode selection to machine component function authentication and complex hierarchical authorization matrices, this modular system solution has a wide range of applications. These functions can be implemented with particular flexibility when combined with the PITreader reading unit and the PNOZmulti 2 configurable compact safety controller. This is because the Safety Evaluation Unit ( SEU ) for reading the selected operating mode is included as a function block in the PNOZmulti Configurator software tool. The operating mode can be easily selected using Pilz's PIT oe4S button box or other buttons.
Group management permissions
For effective access control, the PITreader can be used as a standalone device alongside the PNOZmulti 2. Access permissions for the machine and device can then be easily configured simply by dragging and dropping it into the PNOZmulti Configurator . Complex hierarchical permission matrices can also be created in the free user area. These permissions can be assigned to RFID keys using the PITreader . Starting with PNOZmulti Configurator software version 10.12 , up to four PITreaders can be connected to the PNOZ m B1 base unit.
This modular approach to controlling access permissions and operating modes allows for the design of production processes on machines and equipment in both an efficient and user-friendly manner.
