AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) were originally modified from tractors, equipped with cargo beds, used to transport goods along guide wires in a warehouse. Today, various types and navigation methods of AGVs are widely used in factories and warehouses to improve transportation efficiency and safety. As an advanced automated transportation device, the irreplaceable advantages of AGVs have led to their widespread adoption, marking a significant step into the automation era of logistics in my country. The widespread application of AGVs has played a positive role in improving working conditions, increasing work efficiency, liberating labor productivity, and enhancing enterprise management.
Advantages of using AGV automated guided vehicles for material transportation
First, the operation cycle is continuous and reliable, preventing large-scale downtime. If an AGV malfunctions, it can immediately be removed from the production line for repair, and another AGV can take its place.
Secondly, it has strong anti-interference capabilities. Dust, noise, and small objects on the floor cannot interfere with the operation of the AGV. If it encounters a larger object, the AGV will slow down within a certain distance. If it gets closer, the AGV will stop and issue an alarm. Once the obstacle is removed, it will automatically resume normal operation.
Third, it can reduce bumps and damage related to handling, ensuring that materials are delivered to the designated location intact.
Fourth, AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) are highly maneuverable and unobstructed by ground obstacles. They can make full use of existing space and sites, with flexible route and channel settings, easy system changes, and their guide channels can be embedded in or attached to the floor, allowing personnel or other equipment to pass freely without hindering their access.
Fifth, it offers high safety. AGV automated guided vehicles are equipped with multiple protective devices, including emergency contact safety devices, automatic alarm devices, emergency stop buttons, and object detectors, which can prevent injury to workers and damage to inventory, other equipment, and buildings, thus reducing work risks.
Sixth, AGV automated guided vehicles solve some special environmental problems that are not suitable for human production or work, such as nuclear materials, hazardous materials (pesticides, toxic substances, corrosive substances, biochemical substances, flammable and explosive materials), etc.
Currently, many manufacturing companies are using AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) for material transportation through lean and flexible manufacturing.
