What is the correct way to install a pressure sensor?

2026-04-06 05:23:14 · · #1

Damage to high-temperature melt pressure sensors is usually caused by improper installation. If the sensor is forcibly installed in a hole that is too small or irregularly shaped, the sensor's diaphragm may be damaged by impact. Choosing the right tool to process the mounting hole helps control its size. In addition, the appropriate installation torque helps to form a good seal. However, if the installation torque is too high, it can easily cause the high-temperature melt pressure sensor to slip. To prevent this from happening, an anti-slip compound is usually applied to the threaded part of the sensor before installation.

1. Correct installation method for pressure sensors

(1) Verify the frequency response value of the pressure sensor under normal atmospheric pressure and standard temperature conditions using appropriate instruments.

(2) Verify the correctness of the pressure sensor's encoding and the corresponding frequency response signal.

2. Determine the specific installation location.

To determine the pressure sensor's number and specific installation location, it is necessary to consider each inflation section of the inflation network.

(1) The pressure sensor must be installed along the cable, preferably at the cable connector.

(2) Each cable shall be equipped with no less than 4 pressure sensors, and the two pressure sensors closest to the telephone exchange shall be no more than 200m apart.

(3) Install one at the beginning and one at the end of each cable.

(4) One cable branch point should be installed. If two branch points are close to each other (less than 100m), only one cable branch point is required.

(5) One cable laying device should be installed at the location where the cable laying method (overhead or underground) changes.

(6) For unbranched cables, since the cable pattern of the stacked cables is consistent, the installation distance of the pressure sensors should not exceed 500m, and the total number should not be less than 4.

(7) In order to facilitate the determination of the pressure sensor failure point, in addition to installing a pressure sensor at the starting point, another one should be installed 150~200m away from the starting point. Of course, economic and technical factors must be considered in the design. Where pressure sensors are not required, they should not be installed.

Check dimensions

If the mounting hole size is unsuitable, the threaded portion of the high-temperature melt pressure sensor will easily wear during installation. This will not only affect the sealing performance of the equipment but also prevent the sensor from functioning properly and may even pose a safety hazard. Only a suitable mounting hole can prevent thread wear (thread industry standard 1/2-20UNF2B). A mounting hole measuring instrument can usually be used to inspect the mounting hole and make appropriate adjustments.
