Introduction: He Xiaopeng stated that from 2025 to 2030, China's automotive industry may resemble the current smartphone industry, dominated by a few companies.
Recently, He Xiaopeng, chairman of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng Motors, stated that XPeng Motors will continue to develop intelligent vehicle technology, as well as a flying car that can also drive on roads, but he did not disclose a specific date.
Previously, XPeng also released the X2, a vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The X2 has an empty weight of 360kg and a maximum takeoff weight of 560kg. XPeng claims it has a flight time of 35 minutes and a maximum speed of 130km/h. The flying car is similar in size to a car and can take off and land vertically in ordinary parking spaces.
XPeng claims to have conducted 10,000 test flights of this "new car," with the first batch of flying cars scheduled to launch by the end of this year, offering test rides. However, judging from the video, all the footage appears to show that the X2 is being remotely controlled, and no brave human passengers have yet ridden in it.
In terms of specific functions, the Voyager X2 has the ability to plan its own flight, has multiple obstacle avoidance sensors throughout the aircraft, can autonomously return to its home and land, and has two-way real-time communication capability over a range of 100 kilometers. Some netizens commented: "Isn't this just a larger version of DJI?"
Currently, XPeng has two factories in operation in China and is building two new factories. According to XPeng's previous prospectus, XPeng plans to launch an SUV model next year.
