The Harbin Fiberglass Research Institute recently completed the development of carbon fiber composite reinforcing cores for overhead power transmission cables, a key scientific and technological research project in Heilongjiang Province. The carbon fiber composite conductors developed in this project possess advantages such as light weight, high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, low line loss, and low sag.
This project completed the structural and process design of carbon fiber composite core overhead conductors, developed a high-temperature resistant, high-toughness, and low-viscosity resin formulation, and completed the optimized design and testing of hybrid reinforcing materials carbon fiber and glass fiber and their matching. It also solved many technical challenges in the molding process. The products have been demonstrated in projects such as the 66kV Wentao transmission line technology demonstration project and the 66kV Changqingjia transmission line project.
