French cable giant Nexans announced on its website on the 4th that it has established a scientific committee dedicated to promoting innovation in cable products and technologies.
According to Nexans, the Scientific Committee is primarily responsible for reviewing Nexans research projects, identifying new technologies that create value for customers, and integrating new innovations into existing and new products as quickly as possible.
The Scientific Innovation Committee consists of eight members, chaired by Jean-Maxime Saugrain, Nexans' Vice President of Technology, and Gérard Bacquet, Nexans' Global Director of Science and Technology, who serves as Secretary-General. The committee also includes two industry experts: Professor Jacques Lewiner, Chairman of the RTE Scientific Committee, Honorary Director of the ESPCI Paris School of Chemistry and Logistics, President of the Georges Chapack Endowment Fund of ESPCI, and Academician of the French Academy of Sciences; and Professor Jean-Pierre Chevalier, Chairman of Industrial Materials at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers (ENS) and former member of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency.
The other four are Francis Debladis and Thomas Höhner, heads of Nexans' two research centers; Francis Kröhenbühl, general manager of Nexans Switzerland; and Pierre Kayoun, vice president of global high voltage marketing at Nexans.
Committee Chairman Jean-Maxime Saugrain said, "The establishment of the Scientific Committee is an important milestone in our innovation initiatives. Nexans has consistently demonstrated through its actions that the company is committed to driving innovation to meet customer needs. The Scientific Committee will undoubtedly help us prepare for future product and technological innovations."
