On the 17th, Furukawa Electric, a leading Japanese fiber optic manufacturer, announced in a press release that the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Furukawa Magnet Wire (FMGW), will establish a further cooperative relationship with Taiwanese enameled wire manufacturer Rongxing.
Furukawa Electric stated that the specific content of the cooperation is as follows: Furukawa Electric will provide Rongxing with the manufacturing technology of high heat-resistant enameled wire for ultra-fine inductors, which is currently in rapidly expanding market demand, and plans to make full use of the production equipment and management resources of both parties to build a production system that can meet future needs.
Furukawa Electric stated that with the continued expansion of the market for electrical equipment such as smartphones and tablets, the global demand for inductor products is expected to increase by more than 20% annually. Therefore, in order to meet this trend, it is necessary to increase the production capacity of enameled wire.
Furukawa Electric currently owns a 21.15% stake in Rongxing through FMGW and has commissioned Rongxing's mainland China operations to produce enameled wire.
