When installing a variable frequency drive (VFD), it is essential to first understand its application environment and then configure the corresponding peripheral equipment based on site requirements. The main peripheral equipment for a VFD includes: air circuit breakers, electromagnetic contactors, AC reactors, braking resistors, DC reactors, output AC reactors, wireless noise filters, etc.
The seven peripheral devices of the variable frequency drive are described in detail below:
1. An air circuit breaker is an automatic electrical appliance that can not only normally contact and disconnect circuits, but also operate under abnormal conditions such as overcurrent, reverse current, short circuit, and loss (or under) voltage. Its main function is to protect electrical equipment in AC and DC circuits, and it can also be used to operate circuits infrequently. It is used to quickly disconnect frequency converters to prevent power failures caused by line faults.
2. An AC reactor, also known as an AC inductor or an AC reactor for power supply coordination, is mainly used to prevent harmonic interference from the power grid.
3. An AC contactor, or simply contactor, is an automatic electrical device used to shield and connect and disconnect AC/DC circuits or large capacitor control circuits over long distances. It is mainly used to automatically cut off the main power supply and prevent power loss and restart after a fault when a frequency converter malfunctions.
4. Radio noise filters, also known as power filters, are mainly used to suppress radio signals transmitted from metal pipelines into equipment, or to suppress interference signals transmitted from the interference source equipment through the power supply.
5. DC reactors are mainly used to suppress high-order harmonics generated by frequency converters, and their effect is better than that of AC reactors.
6. The output AC reactor, also known as the output-side anti-interference filter, is a filter designed to suppress high-frequency interference from affecting the power supply side.
7. The filter cover is mainly to prevent dust from entering the frequency converter.
