Kaifu Technology's flagship product, the Y2SS3-EC closed-loop bus stepper driver, seamlessly integrates closed-loop control technology into stepper motors, significantly expanding EtherCAT functionality and boasting superior performance and a wide range of applications. The Y2SS3-EC is a high-performance bus-controlled closed-loop stepper motor driver. The driver incorporates the EtherCAT communication protocol, functioning as a standard EtherCAT slave and supporting CANopen over EtherCAT (CoE). It can also be used with various closed-loop stepper motors of different sizes.

The Y2SS3-EC dual-port RJ-45 connector is a 100BASE-TX (100Mbps) compliant interface and can be connected using standard network cables. Please use CAT5 or CAT5e (or higher) network cables. Connect the Ethernet input interface IN to the Ethernet output interface OUT of the previous driver on the controller or bus. Connect the Ethernet output interface OUT to the Ethernet input interface IN of the next driver on the bus. If the driver is the last node on the bus, only the Ethernet input interface IN needs to be connected. No terminating resistors are required.
The Y2SS3-EC supports synchronous and asynchronous EtherCAT control modes. In synchronous motion mode, the master station performs trajectory planning and outputs periodic commands, while the driver receives these commands according to the synchronization cycle. This mode is suitable for multi-axis synchronous motion. The Y2SS3-EC also supports Cyclic Synchronous Position (CSP) mode. In CSP, trajectory planning is completed at the master station, which receives position information from the master station according to the synchronization cycle. Upon arrival of the synchronization signal, the driver immediately transmits the position information to the driver. The supported synchronization cycles for the Y2SS3-EC are 1000 µs, 2000 µs, and 4000 µs.

II. Power Supply Selection:
The driver can operate normally within the specified range of power supply voltage. If you need the motor to achieve better high-speed performance, you will need to increase the driver power supply voltage.
The power supply current is generally determined based on the output phase current of the driver. Typically, the driver power supply current can be taken as 1.1 to 1.3 times the driver output current.
Meanwhile, the magnitude of the power input current is also related to the motor speed and load during operation. Therefore, users need to perform specific analysis and estimation for specific applications.
III. Motor Selection:
The Y2SS3-EC can output a maximum current of 7A and is compatible with two-phase DC stepper motors with flange sizes of 86 and below.
The Y2SS3-EC features both open-loop and closed-loop operation, making it compatible with both open-loop and closed-loop stepper motors.

V. Mechanical Dimensions:

① Thanks to the adoption of advanced high-end servo synchronization technology, synchronous control of more than 100 axes can be easily achieved in a loop cycle of 2ms;
② Reduce motor heat generation: The Y2SS3-EC closed-loop system uses modeling equivalent technology to achieve automatic adjustment of current amplitude in stepper mode, reducing heat generation. At the same time, it can achieve high-speed and fast response of the position loop while maintaining the rigidity of the original open-loop stepper driver.
