One common requirement in the machine vision industry is to perform comprehensive object detection using as few cameras as possible, such as detecting the top and sides of an object or information about the interior of a cavity in an image. This requirement is becoming increasingly common in industries such as pharmaceuticals, beverages, and automobiles. To meet this need, the Linghou 360° refractive external wall measurement lens was developed.
The 360° refractive external wall inspection lens, through its special optical design, eliminates the need for multiple cameras, lenses, or reflectors. A single camera is sufficient to acquire images of the top surface and 360° external surface of the object being inspected, greatly simplifying the vision system. Key features of this lens include: (1) a maximum side viewing angle of 25°, resulting in a large proportion of the side wall image; (2) suitability for inspecting the external walls of slender cylinders; and (3) continuous images without the need for stitching. This lens is suitable for inspection industries such as beverage packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, and automotive parts, meeting the application needs for defect detection, character recognition, and vision system simplification.
Here is a simple example: The object to be tested is a medicine bottle with an outer diameter of 16mm and a label height of 20mm on the outer wall. The characters on the label on the outer wall need to be detected and identified.
The test configuration was: (1) a 1/1.8-inch chip size camera; (2) a 360° refractive external wall measuring lens TCSHP125-1232; and (3) a ring light source LT-24V-120R60-W.
The test results are as follows:

The test results show that the labels on the outer wall of the object under test can be clearly imaged from all 360°, and characters at different heights can be easily recognized.
