Six Questions and Answers about Lithium Batteries

2026-04-06 04:51:22 · · #1

1. What type of battery should I use: 7.4V, 11.1V, 14.8V or higher?

You should check the instruction manual for the allowed modulation input voltage. Your battery voltage must be within the modulation range.

What do 12C, 15C, and 20C mean?

The C-value represents the amount of electricity the battery can release, and is related to the discharge limit of the LIPO battery. A high C-value means the battery has a high discharge load capacity, and a high C-value also gives the user a greater sense of explosive power during acceleration.

3. Do I need to balance my LIPO battery?

Yes, if the cells in your battery pack are unbalanced (or mismatched), they may not work because they are prone to overcharging or exploding. Therefore, we need a balancing platform or interface. You should buy a balancing charger. A balancing charger can directly charge a new battery the first time, extending its lifespan, but it also better activates the cells, bringing them to their optimal performance. Subsequent use can end with charge discharge, reaching approximately 4.1V for initial charge balance, thus extending battery life.

4. In LIPO applications, is a voltage limiter required?

The limiter is actually a functional component of the LIPO's voltage cutoff, used for older shades. This is not lip-reading.

When using an LIPO receiver, it is also compatible with the receiver. It is designed to prevent the battery from being over-discharged during the discharge process, rendering the battery unusable.

The cutoff voltage of a battery is typically 6.25V or 3.0V per cell. Once the voltage of a single cell in an LIPO drops below 3.0V, it cannot be recharged.

5. Does the battery require more maintenance?

It won't take more time, it just needs more care. It's the same as a regular lithium-ion battery. But common sense is your best tool.

Unfortunately, the abuse of LIPO, and the associated disasters and tragedies, are often blamed on those who do not pay attention to and do not follow the rules set by battery manufacturers.

Examples of improper battery use include: the engine running at 80 degrees Celsius, causing the battery to overheat; and the battery being overcharged and over-discharged under incorrect charging settings.

6. If the battery is damaged or improperly operated, can it continue to be used or repaired?

If a liposome is completely damaged or has exceeded the recommended charging limit, and the battery has started to swell, do not attempt to repair it.
