Haobo Optoelectronics, a lithium-ion battery manufacturer, stated that my country's lithium-ion battery production equipment technology has greatly improved, and the gap with advanced international countries is gradually narrowing. In some areas, China is beginning to catch up with foreign countries. With the technological gap between domestic and international lithium-ion batteries small and the degree of domestic production high, more competition will be concentrated on domestic brands.
The production of lithium-ion batteries has high requirements; they are particularly sensitive to humidity. Therefore, excellent equipment, factory conditions, and highly skilled technicians are essential for producing qualified lithium-ion batteries. Currently, the gap between my country's lithium-ion battery technology and advanced foreign technologies lies primarily in the quality of raw materials, equipment, and the skill level of the technical workforce. Therefore, from this perspective, without substantial investment in equipment and high-quality raw materials, companies cannot produce reliable power lithium-ion batteries.
Lithium-ion battery production technology is basically mature in my country. However, due to market-driven pricing, quality lags behind foreign counterparts, although price is a significant advantage. my country has made major breakthroughs in dry-process lithium-ion battery technology, now achieving world-class production levels. However, in the wet-process separator sector, domestic separator companies are limited by technology and skills, resulting in lower product quality and a heavy reliance on imported production equipment. Chinese GAP products lag far behind foreign products in thickness, strength, and porosity consistency, and batch consistency also needs improvement.
Thanks to the active promotion by the Chinese government, my country has consistently maintained a leading position globally in the use of lithium-ion batteries and has accumulated valuable experience in the application of large-scale lithium-ion batteries. Japanese power lithium-ion battery technology, based on automated production lines, results in better battery consistency; while most domestic power lithium-ion battery technology relies on semi-automatic or manual production lines, leading to poorer battery consistency. Both my country and Japan are currently in the pilot production stage of spinel manganese oxide lithium-ion batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries.
The gap between domestic and foreign power lithium-ion battery technologies is mainly reflected in three aspects: First, the individual goals of domestic power lithium batteries may be close to or even higher than those of foreign ones, but the overall goals are lower, especially in terms of battery life; second, there is a significant gap in product reliability and consistency; and third, while the overall industry scale is large, there are problems with individual companies being too small and too loosely structured.
The lithium-ion battery market is dominated by the United States, Europe, and Asia. Within Asia, China, Japan, and South Korea are the leading producers. From a company perspective, the United States has relatively stronger R&D capabilities, while Japan has relatively strict production standards. my country's market share has surpassed Japan's, making it the world's number one.
Currently, we still have significant issues regarding lithium-ion battery data, primarily reflected in the following aspects:
First, there is a lack of self-sufficiency in high-end battery data, an overabundance of low-end data, and a lack of high-end data. The production process for data research is still lacking, and data stability is still lacking.
Secondly, there are still some problems with the battery design.
Third, the lack of battery recycling planning and the low level of production equipment still exist.
Conclusion: The above summarizes the technological gap in lithium-ion batteries both domestically and internationally. Key technologies such as raw materials and production equipment play a decisive role in the success of lithium-ion batteries. Mastering advanced lithium-ion battery technology is crucial for establishing a firm foothold in the market.
