How to ensure the normal operation of the gas-filled test transformer?

Gas-filled test transformers are testing equipment used for the inspection and preventative testing of power equipment. With the development of China's power industry, the voltage level requirements for test transformers are becoming increasingly stringent. Traditional oil-immersed test transformers are increasingly unable to meet the demands of field operations in terms of size, weight, and performance. Advances in basic scientific research and the application of new materials and processes have led to the introduction of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas as a new insulating medium into the field of power equipment. Due to its excellent insulation and arc-quenching properties, as well as its non-flammability, SF6 gas is widely used as a new insulating medium.

To ensure the proper operation of the gas-filled test transformer and the normal operation of the power system, the following analysis methods for transformers are mainly introduced:

1. Vibration analysis method.

By monitoring and analyzing the vibration signals of the transformer, the purpose of monitoring the condition of the transformer can be achieved.

2. Infrared thermometry technology

Infrared thermal imaging technology uses an infrared detector to receive the infrared radiation signal of the target being measured, amplifies and processes it, converts it into a standard video signal, and then displays the infrared thermal image on a television screen or monitor.

3. Frequency response analysis method.

Frequency response analysis is an effective method for determining whether a transformer winding or lead structure has shifted. It works by measuring minute changes in inductance or capacitance to determine if the winding has undergone mechanical displacement.

Gas-filled test transformers must be tested before being put into operation to ensure that all parameters of the transformer meet the standards and reduce the possibility of transformer failure after power-on. This measure is not only to ensure the safe operation of the power plant, but also to comply with relevant national regulations and requirements. Therefore, professional transformer testing instruments must be used to test the various parameters of the transformer.
