Introduction to the structure and function of extreme operation robots

There are various types of robots suitable for extreme tasks, including robots that operate under atomic radiation, underwater robots, disaster relief and hazard mitigation robots, space robots, and underground mining robots. Countries around the world are paying close attention to the research of robots for extreme tasks and are further developing robots that are intelligent, capable of receiving task-oriented commands, automatically searching for targets, automatically planning, and completing tasks.

Typical robots for extreme tasks have the following structure and functions:

1. Sensor System: Primarily includes force sensing systems (including tactile, force, and slip sensing) and vision systems (including visible light vision, infrared vision, X-ray vision, ultrasonic vision, and microwave vision). Some extreme work robots also have auditory systems. The function of the sensor system is to provide the remote operator with a sense of presence or to provide the autonomous extreme work robot with environmental and object status information.

2. Remote Control System: Most extreme operation robots are remotely controlled, with a human directing operations from a safe location while the robot operates under extreme conditions. Remote control methods include command-based (wired and wireless transmission), follow-up, and hybrid methods.

3. Mobility mechanism: Mainly using tracked vehicles, etc., to enable the robot to enter the work area under remote control and move within a certain range.

4. Fault self-diagnosis and self-rescue system: After a fault occurs, it issues a fault message and indicates the location of the fault, and can automatically connect to the backup system to troubleshoot the fault. In severe cases, it can automatically return to and withdraw from the extreme work area.

5. Flexible end effector.
