Special-purpose robots generally refer specifically to professional service robots, primarily used in specialized fields. They are typically operated or used by specially trained personnel to assist and/or replace humans in performing tasks. Special-purpose robots refer to robots other than industrial robots, public service robots, and personal service robots.
Special-purpose robots are a type of robot that has experienced rapid development and widespread application in recent years, and are used in all sectors of my country's national economy. Their applications mainly include: agriculture, power, construction, logistics, medical care, nursing, rehabilitation, security and rescue, military, nuclear industry, mining, petrochemicals, and municipal engineering.
Based on the main industries in which special robots are applied, special robots can be divided into: agricultural robots, power robots, construction robots, logistics robots, medical robots, nursing robots, rehabilitation robots, security and rescue robots, military robots, nuclear industry robots, mining robots, petrochemical robots, municipal engineering robots, and other industry robots. Based on the space (land, water, air, space) in which special robots operate, they can be classified into: ground robots, underground robots, surface robots, underwater robots, aerial robots, space robots, and other robots.
Based on their locomotion methods, special-purpose robots can be categorized as follows: wheeled robots, tracked robots, legged robots, worm-like robots, flying robots, underwater robots, stationary robots, jet-powered robots, wearable robots, hybrid robots, and robots with other locomotion methods.
Classification by function: The functional classification of special robots is related to the industry. Common functions mainly include mining, installation, testing, maintenance, repair, inspection, reconnaissance, bomb disposal, search and rescue, transportation, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and cleaning.
Based on their application environments, Chinese robotics experts categorize robots into two main types: industrial robots and special-purpose robots. Industrial robots are multi-jointed manipulators or multi-degree-of-freedom robots designed for industrial applications. Special-purpose robots, on the other hand, are advanced robots used outside of manufacturing and serving humanity, including service robots, underwater robots, entertainment robots, military robots, agricultural robots, and robotic machines. Within special-purpose robots, some branches are developing rapidly and showing a trend towards becoming independent systems, such as service robots, underwater robots, military robots, and micromanipulation robots. Currently, international robotics scholars also categorize robots based on their application environments: industrial robots in manufacturing environments and service and humanoid robots in non-manufacturing environments, which aligns with my country's classification.
