Main uses of industrial robots

Industrial robots are mainly used in the automotive industry, typically for complex operations such as handling, welding, painting, assembly, palletizing, gluing, grinding, engraving, and inspection.

(1) Processing

Material handling refers to the use of equipment to move workpieces from one processing position to another. Material handling robots can be equipped with different end effectors (such as mechanical grippers, vacuum suction cups, etc.) to transport workpieces of different shapes and states, greatly reducing heavy manual labor. Through programming and control of different equipment in various processes, pipeline operation is realized. Material handling robots are widely used in automated operations such as machine tool loading and unloading, automated assembly lines, palletizing and handling, and container handling.

(2) Welding

Currently, robotic welding is the most widely used application in the industrial sector, such as in construction machinery, automobile manufacturing, and power construction. Welding robots can work continuously in harsh environments, providing consistent welding quality, improving work efficiency, and reducing the labor intensity of workers. Robotic welding represents a revolutionary advancement in welding automation, breaking through the limitations of traditional specialized mechanical welding methods. (Industrial robot training)

(3) Spraying

Spraying robots are suitable for spraying the outer surfaces of workpieces with large batches, diverse product models, and irregular surface shapes. They are widely used in industries such as automobiles, auto parts, railways, home appliances, building materials, and machinery.

(4) Assembly

Assembly is a complex process. During assembly, we must not only detect errors but also correct them. Assembly robots are core equipment in flexible automation systems. There are many types of end effectors to adapt to different assembly objects; sensor systems are used to acquire interactive information between the assembly robot, the environment, and the assembly object. Assembly robots are mainly used in the manufacturing of various electrical appliances and assembly line products. They are characterized by high efficiency, high precision, and continuous operation.

(5) Pallet Packaging

Palletizing robots are high-tech mechatronic products. They can meet the production needs of mid- to low-end products and can also stack bags, boxes, and other products in required grouping and layering methods.

The use of palletizing robots can improve a company's production efficiency and output, reduce errors caused by manual handling, and can work around the clock, saving significant human resource costs. Palletizing robots are widely used in chemical, beverage, food, beer, and plastics manufacturing companies.

(6) Glue

A robot typically consists of a robot body and specialized gluing equipment. The robot can perform semi-automatic gluing independently or automatically in conjunction with a dedicated production line. It features high flexibility, precise processing, high quality, and wide applicability. It can complete complex three-dimensional bonding tasks. Installing laser sensors on the worktable for precise positioning can improve production quality, while the use of grating sensors ensures worker safety.

(7) Grinding

A grinding robot is an industrial robot capable of automated grinding. It is primarily used for surface grinding, deburring edges and corners, weld grinding, internal hole deburring, and thread machining. Grinding robots are widely used in industries such as 3C (computers, communications, and consumer electronics), bathroom hardware, IT, automotive parts, industrial parts, medical devices, building materials and furniture manufacturing, and consumer products.

(8) Sculpture

Laser engraving robots are commonly used robots capable of complex automated engraving. They focus a high-energy-density laser beam onto the surface of the object being engraved, causing the surface material to melt and evaporate instantly, thus achieving the desired processing effect. Laser engraving can process both non-metallic and metallic materials. Laser engraving robots are widely used in non-metallic mold processing, casting industrial product processing, and bathroom product model processing, characterized by high efficiency and speed.

(9) Detection

Inspection during parts manufacturing and finished product inspection are crucial processes for ensuring product quality. Using inspection robots can improve work efficiency and reduce the error rate of manual inspection. Inspection mainly involves two tasks: first, checking whether the dimensions of parts are within allowable tolerances; and second, controlling parts that need to be classified according to quality.

The above summarizes the nine major application areas of industrial robots. Industrial robots can replace humans in dangerous, harmful, toxic, low-temperature, and high-temperature environments, and can also replace humans in performing heavy, monotonous, and repetitive tasks, thereby improving labor productivity and ensuring product quality.
