Keywords: Luosheng Yokogawa DD motor, Luosheng synchronous controller, color mark, high precision 0 Introduction Labels are mainly used in five major fields: decoration, information, identification, anti-counterfeiting, and storage and transportation. Industries and products with widespread label applications include: daily chemicals, cosmetics, electronics, pharmaceuticals, daily necessities, food and beverages, supermarket retail and logistics, industrial products, safety and anti-counterfeiting products, and environmental protection products. According to relevant data, the global label market is developing rapidly. Global label sales were projected to reach US$62 billion in 2007, with an annual growth rate of 5% to 7% over the past 30 years. The output of various labels reached 33 billion square meters, of which Europe exceeded 1 billion square meters, with per capita consumption of 15 square meters. The US grows at 5% annually, Japan at 3%–5%, while China, Latin America, and Eastern Europe experience the fastest growth at 15%–20%. Fully automatic label printing machines are mainstream products in the international label printing machine market and are increasingly being used in domestic production. To improve printing speed and accuracy, and to facilitate equipment maintenance and repair, many label printing equipment manufacturers choose direct drive motors and synchronous controllers. 1. Features of the Luosheng SPC-007 Synchronous Controller: The Luosheng SPC-007 synchronous controller (Figure 1) is a synchronous controller specifically developed for label printing equipment. The controller can automatically update the feed length to follow changes in marking intervals, maintaining stopping accuracy. It can also synchronize with tools such as printing rollers that move up and down. It has the function of maintaining a stable ratio between the tool cycle time and the time required for feeding. When the tool cycle time changes, the feed speed is automatically updated, preventing engagement with the tool during the feeding of printing material. Figure 2 shows the electrical connection diagram of the SPC-007 with the control interface and drive equipment. Technical Features of Luosheng Yokogawa DD Motors The use of DD motors in label printing equipment mainly focuses on their high precision, high rigidity, and high speed characteristics: Clearance error is eliminated. Ordinary transmission mechanisms, due to intermediate components such as reducers, couplings, gears, belts, or lead screws, inevitably suffer from clearance error, especially the mechanical wear caused by long-term operation, which is impossible to compensate for. DD motors effectively solve these problems. Due to the direct drive installation method of DD (Figure 3), the error is minimized; moreover, its servo characteristics can correct errors at any time, achieving the most ideal control precision. Figure 3 Comparison of Luosheng Yokogawa DD motor direct drive and servo + reducer drive structures. High resolution and high positioning accuracy. The DYNASERV DD motor is equipped with a high-resolution encoder; the DM1B-045 has a resolution of 655,360 PPR (the DM1A series reaches 4,096,000 PPR), providing high electrical control precision, exceeding that of ordinary servo motors by an order of magnitude. Due to its highly precise manufacturing, the final control accuracy can generally be within 2 seconds. The drive structure of the Yokogawa DD motor (Figure 4) determines its high rigidity, compact structure, and high efficiency. The DD motor's high rigidity and stiff characteristics when combined with a load place even higher demands on its driver. The latest DYNASERV driver offers online gain adjustment and resonance filtering. The motor's unique hollow design not only reduces its own inertia but also provides customers with more installation options. The combined mechanical structure is more compact, resulting in the highest efficiency compared to other methods. Figure 4 DD Motor Drive Structure Permanent Magnet Stator Yokogawa DD motors have relatively low relative speeds, with rated speeds generally between 60rpm and 240rpm. However, this speed refers to the final speed on the turntable, which is a significant advantage compared to ordinary servo + reducer architectures. While maintaining speed, the DD motor maintains high output torque. Due to the use of a permanent magnet stator, the torque output curve of the Yokogawa DD motor maintains a smooth and linear characteristic within the rated speed range (Figure 5). Figure 5 DD Motor Speed-Torque Output Characteristics Yokogawa's GIII driver uses I-PD control. For the same current loop bandwidth, the GIII driver using I-PD control achieves a 10Hz position loop bandwidth, reducing the speed bandwidth by 2.5 times compared to traditional PID control. This characteristic determines the motor's high rigidity (position bandwidth). IPD 10Hz ————————> 25Hz~~100Hz, 200Hz PID 10Hz ————————> 60Hz~~100Hz, 200Hz PP 10Hz ————————> 10Hz~~100Hz, 200Hz Figure 6 Yokogawa GIII Driver Control Diagram 3 Application of Rosen Synchronous Controller SPC-007 and Rosen Yokogawa DD Motor Products in Self-Adhesive Label Printing Machines The self-adhesive label printing machine adopts a flat-pressure structure design, mainly completing the following processes: paper feeding, printing (secondary overprinting), embossing, hot stamping, cutting or rewinding, and counting. The printing speed is 60-180 times/minute. The measured value of a single printing is <0.03mm, and the measured value of a secondary overprint is <0.035mm (statistical value). The DD motor is mainly used to drive the rollers. As shown in the control principle diagram 7, during the first printing, the single-axis controller SPC007 controls the travel length and speed of the DD motor, and the printing plate is printed with colors on both sides. During the second printing, the color mark sensor scans the mark point and notifies the SPC007 to control the DD motor movement in the mark tracking mode, and the printing plate is registered with colors on both sides. The travel distance and speed can be set by the upper-level finger switch or the human-machine interface. Compared with the old model, it saves manpower, especially for color registration problems, which are completely handled by the controller. It avoids the work of frequent mechanical adjustments caused by mechanical errors, and greatly improves work efficiency. Moreover, it is simple to maintain and the equipment is safe. Figure 7 DD motor + SPC-007 control principle diagram The oscilloscope function of the Rosun Yokogawa GIII driver (Figure 8) can display the real-time speed command and actual speed of the gripping, so that the frequency of the resonance point can be analyzed. By adding an appropriate filter, the optimal position control can be achieved. Figure 8 is a waveform diagram captured in real time when the self-adhesive printing machine was debugged at Dongguan Wanhong Machinery. However, in recent years, the demand for high-end, automatic labeling machines in the Chinese label market has increased rapidly. Some large domestic printing manufacturers have successively introduced advanced letterpress and flexographic label printing equipment to meet market demand. However, the technology and performance of domestically produced label printing equipment in China are somewhat behind those of foreign products, which has led some foreign professional label printing equipment manufacturers with advanced technology and equipment to target this business opportunity and enter the Chinese market, or even invest in building factories in China. In order to regain this label printing market, domestic self-adhesive label printing equipment manufacturers are also increasing their R&D efforts to develop in the high-end field. Luosheng Enterprise, with the mission of introducing advanced technology and improving the level of manufacturing, was the first self-adhesive equipment manufacturer in Taiwan to introduce Luosheng Yokogawa DD motors and form large-scale production. Domestic manufacturers are also gradually applying this technology. With the rapid development of the domestic economy, more and more high-tech technologies are being applied to the industrial field. Luosheng Company hopes to build a technological bridge and share more mature application technologies from abroad with people in the industry.
