I. Project Background
Converter steelmaking is the main steelmaking process in my country's steel enterprises. During the blowing process, the converter discharges a large amount of reddish-brown flue gas from the furnace mouth. This flue gas is hot, contains flammable gases and metal particles, and causes serious pollution to the atmosphere and workshop environment. Therefore, the dust collector fan is the power center of the dust removal and purification system. If the dust collector fan fails to operate normally, it will not only affect production and cause huge economic losses, but may also threaten the personal safety of on-site production personnel.
II. Project Challenges
Dust removal in converters is a crucial step in converter steelmaking. The transmission equipment is the lifeblood of the dust removal fan system, so its stability plays a vital role in the normal operation of the blower. The high-pressure speed control system配套 with the dust removal fan requires extremely high reliability and must meet the following criteria:
1. Long-term operation without failure.
2. The frequency converter has a bypass function, which can switch the motor to run in case of a fault, ensuring that the equipment does not stop.
3. Wide speed range and high efficiency.
4. It has a resonance point jump setting, which can make the motor avoid running at the resonance point and prevent the fan from surging.
III. INVT Inverter System Solutions
To meet the four key requirements of dust collector fans and safeguard the heart of dust collection equipment, INVT has launched the GD5000 frequency converter + GD5000-MS four-to-three manual bypass system solution. This solution offers the following key advantages: 1. Each frequency converter can select to drive one of three motors, providing greater flexibility. 2. When one frequency converter fails, the designated non-faulty and not running frequency converter continues to start that motor, keeping the fan operating in variable frequency mode, thus saving energy and reducing consumption.

V. Summary
Through field application, it was found that four frequency converters drive three motors in a three-in-one standby operation, with the frequency converters serving as backups for each other, thus completely solving the problem of production stoppages caused by malfunctions.
