What parameters should be adjusted for inverter overload during startup?

Overload protection parameters do not need to be set for motor overload in frequency converters.

Frequency converters generally have motor overload protection by default, based on the motor's power. Typically, an overload fault will be reported within 60 seconds at 1.2 times the motor's rated power. The overload coefficient varies slightly between different frequency converters.

1. Setting of Protection Actions and Motor Types: When a frequency converter controls only one motor, overload protection should be set to active, and the type of motor should be selected: a general-purpose motor or a frequency converter-specific motor. If a frequency converter controls multiple motors, overload protection should be set to inactive. In this case, protection measures should be implemented according to the capacity of each motor.

2. Protection Mode Settings: The following protection modes are available for overload conditions:

(1) Motor deceleration and stop:

(2) The motor is immediately de-energized and stops freely;

(3) The motor continues to run, and an alarm signal is given;

(4) The motor operates with current limiting.

3. Setting the protection current setting: The rated current of the motor is set to the inverter through relevant parameters and used as the overload protection setting. There are two methods: some inverters allow you to directly set the "motor rated current".

4. Overload protection delay time: The time during which the overload current is allowed to continue operating when it reaches the protection setting value. If this time is exceeded, protection will be implemented. If the current value returns to the normal value within the delay time, protection will be deactivated. If the overload current exceeds the protection setting value, protection will be implemented according to the inverse time characteristic.
