As the heart of new energy vehicles, the importance of power batteries is undeniable. The number of patents applied for and granted can indirectly reflect the technological level of battery companies.
Recently, a reporter learned from Guoxuan High-Tech that the company has a leading number of patent applications in the industry, and the annual growth rate of patent applications and authorizations has consistently remained above 20%.
According to reports, as of the end of May 2021, Guoxuan High-Tech had applied for 4,760 patents, including 2,208 invention patents (132 of which were foreign patents); it had been granted 2,733 patents, including 685 invention patents (56 of which were foreign invention patents); and it had published 247 research papers.
In terms of specific R&D, Guoxuan High-Tech invested 78.96 million yuan in R&D in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 38.9% year-on-year, and the investment intensity continued to increase.
In terms of R&D achievements, Guoxuan High-Tech's lithium iron phosphate battery cell energy density has exceeded 210Wh/kg, a level that currently surpasses the conventional 523 ternary lithium battery and approaches the energy density of the 622 ternary lithium battery. The final product is a soft-pack cell with a calculated energy density of 212Wh/kg. According to Guoxuan High-Tech, mass production is expected by the end of this year to the beginning of next year, with the next goal being to achieve 230Wh/kg. Regarding ternary lithium batteries, 302Wh/kg cell cells have been produced in batches, and the system energy density has exceeded 200Wh/kg.
According to monthly data on power batteries released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers in April, Guoxuan High-Tech's power battery installations reached 0.59 GWh in April, accounting for 7% of the total domestic installations, a year-on-year increase of 555.6%, firmly maintaining its position among the top five. In the list of total installations for the first four months, Guoxuan achieved a year-on-year increase of 382.4% with 1.64 GWh, accounting for 5.2% of the total domestic installations, also firmly holding its position among the top five.
