The promotion and application of new energy vehicles has become a global mainstream. In recent years, my country has also been actively promoting and popularizing the use of electric vehicles. The rapidly growing new energy vehicle market has brought with it a demand for power batteries. However, the power batteries of new energy vehicles have a limited lifespan. If these batteries are not properly disposed of after retirement, such as being discarded arbitrarily, it will not only cause environmental impacts and safety hazards but also result in resource waste. Therefore, the recycling and reuse of power batteries for new energy vehicles is extremely important.
The power battery recycling industry involves the centralized collection of decommissioned power batteries, using advanced technologies to recover elements such as nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, aluminum, and lithium from the batteries. These materials are then recycled back into power battery packs and used in new energy vehicles. Currently, power battery recycling in my country is an emerging field in its initial stage.

To strengthen the management of recycling and utilization of power batteries for new energy vehicles, standardize industry development, and promote comprehensive resource utilization, the state has successively introduced a number of policies and measures. In January 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Energy Administration, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and other departments jointly issued the "Interim Measures for the Management of Recycling and Utilization of Power Batteries for New Energy Vehicles".

The issuance of the "Interim Measures for the Management of Recycling and Utilization of Power Batteries for New Energy Vehicles" provides an important guarantee for the healthy development of the recycling and utilization industry of power batteries for new energy vehicles. In order to better promote the implementation of the "Measures", relevant departments subsequently issued the "Interim Provisions on the Traceability Management of Recycling and Utilization of Power Batteries for New Energy Vehicles".

Although the government has introduced numerous policies to support the development of the industry, the still immature industrial system needs further development. With the gradual improvement of the power battery recycling industry, the following trends will emerge in the future:
A sound recycling system
In the future, the power battery recycling system will be further standardized and improved, prompting automobile manufacturers to accelerate the establishment of waste power battery recycling channels, publish information on recycling service outlets, and ensure the full implementation of the extended producer responsibility system.
Power battery products can be traced back to their source.
With the establishment and implementation of the traceability management system, information collection will be carried out throughout the entire life cycle of power batteries, including production, sales, use, scrapping, recycling, and utilization. Online monitoring will be conducted on the fulfillment of recycling responsibilities by entities at each stage, and a sound regulatory system will be established.
A sound industry standard system
Building upon the four national standards already issued for power battery product specifications, coding rules, dismantling specifications, and residual energy testing, we will accelerate the research and project initiation of standards related to power battery recycling, promote the issuance of a number of national standards for cascade utilization, battery disassembly, and battery disassembly guide manual compilation specifications, and support the development of relevant industry, local, and group standards.
Pilot demonstration and promotion application
With the release of the pilot implementation plan for the recycling and utilization of power batteries for new energy vehicles, pilot demonstrations have been launched, supporting qualified localities and enterprises to conduct pilot projects and carry out demonstrations in key areas of tiered utilization. In the future, there will be more and more pilot demonstration projects, while cultivating a number of benchmark enterprises for power battery recycling and utilization, and exploring the formation of diversified recycling and utilization models that are technologically and economically sound and environmentally friendly.
A more favorable development environment
In the future, we will strengthen the connection with existing policies related to new energy vehicles, study support policies in finance, taxation, science and technology, and environmental protection, encourage social capital investment or the establishment of industrial funds, and promote the industrial application of key technologies and equipment.
