Structure and characteristics of industrial robots

Industrial robots were once considered a luxury, accessible only to large corporations. However, many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are now also adopting them, and industrial robots have become one of the most common tools in production processes. The industrial robot industry has the potential for horizontal expansion, promoting the development of different sectors. Therefore, industrial robots will ultimately become an unavoidable choice for manufacturing enterprises, and their future development will lead to significant changes in industrial production and human society. What are the structure and characteristics of industrial robots?

The industrial robot body consists of the following five parts.

Robotic mechanical structures are broadly classified into two categories: the manipulator mechanism, similar to a human hand and wrist, and the mobile body structure (E), which primarily performs movement functions. Further development in production automation leads to flexible automation. Industrial robots can be programmed to adapt to changing work environments, thus playing a vital role in small-batch, diversified, balanced, and efficient flexible production processes, and are an essential component of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS).

2. Servo Drive System: The function of a servo system is to perform drive connection control and load control according to a predetermined trajectory. Widely used drive methods include: hydraulic servo drive, electric motor servo drive, and pneumatic servo drive.

3. Sensor System: In addition to the position sensor (called internal sensor) connected to the power system, it is also necessary to have line of sight, force, touch and various other sensors (called external sensors).

Structural features of industrial robot body

1. The industrial robot body can be simplified to a single link connecting the head and tail. The open-ended kinematic chain has the structural rigidity of the robot body, which varies with its spatial position; the robot can operate 24 hours a day, effectively saving labor costs. Furthermore, using the working mode of industrial robotic arms, automated assembly lines can save even more space, making the entire factory layout smaller and more compact.

2. Each connection in the robot body has an independent drive link, which is more flexible—generally, a linkage mechanism has 1-2 original parts, and the movement between the connections restricts each other;

3. The driving torque of the connecting rod varies with the complexity related to the position of the drive unit.
