What is the working principle of a spot welding robot? What are its most common applications? A spot welding robot is a mechanical device used for spot welding. Based on the principles of teaching and replication, spot welding robots are frequently used in the market. Spot welding robots are commonly found in fields such as automobile manufacturing, stainless steel pipes, sheet metal, and shipbuilding.

With the increasing automation and intelligence of welding operations, spot welding robots are widely used in sheet metal welding, and they were also among the first to be applied to automotive assembly lines. The welding torch on a spot welding robot arm includes electrodes, cables, gas pipes, cooling water pipes, and a welding transformer. The welding torch is relatively heavy, requiring the arm to have strong load-bearing capacity.

Working principle of spot welding robots:

The spot welding robot is designed as a six-axis joint with six degrees of freedom. In our work, we mainly rely on an intelligent control system for unified planning. Spot welding robots typically employ the teach-and-playback principle; the operator must operate the spot welding manipulator step-by-step according to the actual task. The robot automatically memorizes position, posture, motion parameters, welding parameters, etc., for each action. During the guidance process, a program is automatically generated, which will continuously execute all operations.

After teaching is completed, the operator only needs to send a start command to the robot, and the robot will execute all operations step by step according to the taught actions, and perform actual teaching and reproduction.

Applications of spot welding robots:

To meet the market demand for multi-functional mechanical equipment, spot welding robots are not only used for welding operations, but can also automatically change the tools on their wrists according to program settings and the nature of the task to complete corresponding tasks. They are widely used in fields such as machinery manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, and aerospace. These robots utilize specific tools for welding, handling, transporting, and installation.

The above explains the working principle and applications of spot welding robots. Spot welding robots are highly automated and intelligent, enabling them to stabilize welding quality, improve production efficiency, and help users control costs and expenses. They are being used more and more frequently and are gradually replacing traditional welding methods.
