How should lithium battery packs be maintained and cared for?

Charging daily according to the standard time and procedure is recommended. A single charge of a lithium-ion battery pack can last for 2 to 3 days, and daily charging will extend the lifespan of the electric vehicle's lithium-ion battery. This is because used lithium-ion batteries are in a shallow cycle state, and daily charging will extend their lifespan.

Performing a deep discharge periodically on a lithium-ion battery pack can also help "activate" the battery, slightly increasing its capacity. A common method is to periodically perform a complete discharge of the battery.

1. Generally, lithium-ion battery packs are activated and pre-charged by the manufacturer before leaving the factory, so the batteries all have residual power. Newly purchased batteries are lithium-ion batteries, so the first 3 to 5 charges are called the adjustment period, and they should be charged for more than 14 hours to ensure that the activity of lithium ions is fully activated.

Lithium-ion battery packs do not have a memory effect, but they do have strong inertia. They should be fully activated to ensure optimal performance in future use. Lithium-ion batteries have already undergone sufficient activation treatment before leaving the factory, so there is no need to use long charging times to activate the lithium ions. For the first charge, simply use up the remaining charge in the battery and then fully charge it.

2. Some automated smart fast chargers, when the indicator light changes, actually only indicate that the battery is 90% charged. The charger will automatically switch to slow charging to fully charge the battery. Do not immediately disconnect the charger's power; it's best to allow the battery some time to fully charge before using it, otherwise, the battery life will be shortened.

3. Before charging, do not discharge the lithium-ion battery pack. Currently manufactured lithium-ion battery chargers do not have a discharge function. If the charging speed can be adjusted, it is recommended to use slow charging as much as possible and reduce fast charging. Regardless of whether it's slow or fast charging, the charging time should not exceed 24 hours. Otherwise, the battery cells may burn out due to a large electron flow caused by prolonged power supply.

Lithium-ion battery maintenance methods:

1. Newly purchased lithium-ion battery packs will always have some charge. Therefore, users can use them immediately upon receiving them, letting the remaining charge drain completely before recharging. After 2-3 cycles of normal use, the lithium-ion battery will be fully activated. A special reminder: do not believe salespeople or online rumors that new lithium-ion batteries require a 12-hour activation period upon first use.

2. Lithium-ion batteries do not have a memory effect and can be charged whenever needed. However, it is important to note that lithium-ion batteries should not be over-discharged, as over-discharge will cause significant capacity loss. Start charging immediately when the device warns of low battery.

3. In daily use, a freshly charged lithium-ion battery should be left to stand for half an hour to allow its charging performance to stabilize before use; otherwise, it will affect the battery's performance.

4. Lithium-ion batteries should be kept in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated environment. They should be protected from contact with corrosive substances and kept away from fire and heat sources.

5. Note the operating environment of lithium-ion batteries: The charging temperature of lithium-ion battery packs is 0℃~45℃, and the discharging temperature of lithium-ion batteries is -20℃~60℃.

6. Do not store batteries with metal objects, as metal objects may come into contact with the positive and negative terminals of the battery, causing a short circuit, damaging the battery, or even causing danger.

7. Do not strike, puncture, step on, modify, or expose the battery to sunlight. Do not place the battery in microwave, high-voltage, or other similar environments.

8. Use a proper, compatible lithium-ion battery charger to charge the battery. Do not use inferior or other types of battery chargers to charge lithium-ion batteries.
