Autonomous driving in new energy vehicles refers to electric vehicles equipped with autonomous driving technology. With advancements in artificial intelligence and sensor technology, an increasing number of new energy vehicle manufacturers are actively developing and launching autonomous driving functions.
Autonomous driving technology can be divided into multiple levels, the most common of which are the six levels of autonomous driving systems defined by the SAE international standard:
Level 0: No automation, completely driven by a human.
Level 1: Driver assistance systems, such as cruise control;
Level 2: Partial automation, including automatic steering, acceleration, and braking;
Level 3: Conditional automated driving, where the driver needs to be able to take over control, but the vehicle can drive autonomously under specific conditions;
Level 4: Highly automated, the vehicle can drive fully autonomously in specific scenarios, but driver intervention is still required under certain conditions;
Level 5: Fully autonomous driving, where the vehicle can drive completely autonomously under all conditions without a human driver.
Currently, most new energy vehicle manufacturers offer Level 2 autonomous driving functions, capable of automatic steering, acceleration, and braking under specific conditions. Some manufacturers and technology companies are working to develop higher levels of autonomous driving technology to achieve a greater degree of self-driving.
It is worth noting that although new energy vehicles with autonomous driving technology have emerged, they still need to meet legal regulations and road safety considerations. Different countries and regions have different regulations and approval procedures for autonomous driving. Therefore, drivers should remain vigilant and abide by relevant regulations when using autonomous driving functions.
