The development of lithium-ion batteries for new energy vehicles in China has been subject to directional debate: the competition between lithium manganese oxide, ternary lithium, and lithium iron phosphate battery packs. However, most companies producing new energy vehicles choose lithium iron phosphate battery packs. Lithium iron phosphate power lithium-ion batteries have a cycle life of over 2000 cycles. Under standard charging (5-hour rate) conditions, they can achieve 2000 cycles. The discharge rate varies under different environments, with the minimum discharge rate reaching 0.5C and the maximum reaching 10C.
In detail, lithium iron phosphate batteries have high energy density and high charge/discharge efficiency, reaching over 90% under high-rate discharge conditions; their cycle life exceeds 2000 times, and under standard charging (5-hour rate) conditions, they can reach 2000 times, with a performance-price ratio more than 4 times that of ordinary batteries; they also have good safety and relatively stable performance.
Because my country is the world's largest investor and producer of lithium iron phosphate batteries, there is no need to worry about the supply. Moreover, it does not contain any precious metals, and my country has abundant reserves of iron oxide and lithium carbonate, which are the key raw materials for processing cathode materials. This can greatly reduce costs. Most importantly, lithium iron phosphate battery packs have high stability at high temperatures, reaching over 390°C, which ensures the high safety of the battery. They will not explode or burn due to overcharging, overheating, short circuits, or impacts, and can easily pass the nail penetration test.
Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs have a large capacity and can be fully charged in 40 minutes at 1.5C using a dedicated charger. They exhibit no memory effect and are environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and pollution-free. LFP batteries can guarantee a combined energy density of 100-120 Wh/kg. Combined with their superior safety and predictable economic efficiency, we can confidently believe that LFP battery packs will be the best choice for the development of lithium-ion batteries for new energy vehicles in my country.
