On February 2nd, OFweek Solar PV Network reported that Polyera announced that its polymer/fullerene organic solar cell laboratory has demonstrated a conversion efficiency of 9.1%. This organic solar cell is fabricated using an inverted bulk heterojunction structure and ActivInk PV 2000 semiconductor material. This active layer has a wider thickness range and does not reduce cell efficiency, helping to increase yield and simplify the manufacturing process.

"We have focused our solar energy research on the chemical processes of this specialized material and found a new design approach to combine active layer modules to maximize their photoelectric properties," said Antonio Facchetti, founder and chief technology officer of Polyera. "These latest achievements bring us one step closer to true commercialization." Polyera will launch a series of organic solar cell active layer materials and commercialize them under the trademark ActivInk PV.
