Automotive welding production line

Welding, also known as mechanical tailoring, is responsible for welding stamped workpieces together and is widely used in manufacturing.

Welding and assembly have the same meaning, with the degree of automation and flexibility in welding determining the development prospects and future of welding. In automobile manufacturing, welding workshops include welding clamps, welding machines, and conveyor lines.

01. Automotive Welding Processes

The car body is a structural component made of thin sheets. After being stamped, the sheets are assembled and welded to form the body shell, also known as the body-in-white. Therefore, welding is the key to the body forming process and is a major part of the car body manufacturing process.

An automobile production line, also known as an assembly line, involves continuous production processes such as welding, stamping, painting, and powertrain assembly, enabling automobile manufacturers to increase their automation levels. The history of large-scale automobile production has seen three major transformations: assembly line production, platform-based production, and modular production.

02. Module Application

Deckerwell's project is applied to automotive welding production lines for welding automotive parts such as doors and seats.

In this project, the PLC used by the main station communicates with the Deckerwell remote I/O module via the PROFINET communication interface on the main unit.

The DI digital input module is mainly used for APT buttons and fixture positioning sensors, cylinder magnetic switches, access control sensors, and various alarm signal inputs; the DO digital output module is mainly used for fixing (fixture) welding components, cylinders, lasers, etc.

The AI analog input module is mainly used for pressure sensor detection, while the AO analog output module is mainly used for outputting proportional valve signals.
