I. Artificial Intelligence

In 1956, John McCarthy coined the term "artificial intelligence" at the first artificial intelligence conference held at Dartmouth College. Since then, artificial intelligence has become an important branch of computer science, attracting the interest and dedication of countless scientists and engineers.

Artificial intelligence (AI) can be categorized into different types. Based on the degree and scope of its imitation of human intelligence, it can be divided into weak AI and strong AI. Weak AI, also known as narrow AI or artificial narrow intelligence (ANI), refers to AI focused on performing specific tasks, such as voice assistants, recommendation systems, and autonomous driving. Weak AI represents the majority of AI in our surroundings today; ChatGPT and Wenxin Yiyan are examples of weak AI. Strong AI includes artificial general intelligence (AGI) and artificial superintelligence (ASI), referring to AI with intelligence levels comparable to or surpassing humans. These AIs can understand, learn, reason, plan, and create. Strong AI is currently still in the theoretical stage, with no practical applications yet.

II. Future Development Directions of Artificial Intelligence

First, self-driving cars may outperform human drivers. Advances in artificial intelligence, including Tesla's newly launched supercomputer-powered fully autonomous vehicles, could become fully operational and see some use within the next decade, although some experts believe this could take decades. Either way, they could lead to a gradual decrease in overall transportation costs and impact geographical areas and grasslands, disrupting industries such as urban planning, delivery services, and trucking.

Second, deepfakes could become a social problem. Microsoft and Facebook have developed tools to detect flaws in their origins, but the potential harm they can still cause is a problem that should be taken seriously.

Third, artificial intelligence will improve the quality of healthcare. AI is currently being used to understand how a person's genes, environment, and lifestyle can help determine the best ways to prevent or treat certain diseases. Digital therapies, custom-designed drugs, and improved diagnostics have made treatment more accurate, affordable, and accessible.

Beyond enhancing doctors' diagnostic capabilities, it will continuously learn and prove itself as it is used in a wide range of medical situations. The ongoing interaction between human doctors and AI diagnostics will help improve the accuracy of these systems, and over time, humans will have sufficient confidence to allow AI systems to operate autonomously. All of this will contribute to a longer and healthier life for humanity.

Fourth, home robots can begin to be adopted on a limited scale. According to a report by Stanford University, home robots may be available by 2035. Companies such as Samsung and Toyota Research Institute have already created prototypes capable of performing various activities, such as folding clothes, washing dishes, and setting the table. Tesla will release its own prototype in the early 21st century. Like Tesla cars, the artificial intelligence of home robots can be continuously updated from the cloud.

Fifth, artificial intelligence could lead to massive unemployment. It is estimated that one billion people worldwide will lose their jobs due to AI by 2030. This widespread unemployment could even mask the shift away from agricultural labor compared to the 1900s. Job functions such as car or truck driving, equipment handling, operations, and legal work will become increasingly automated. Consequently, many of these jobs will be phased out. However, jobs relying on emotional intelligence, such as sales, leadership, and management, may remain secure in the next decade.

Sixth, my country will experience explosive growth in artificial intelligence and benefit from it. my country's R&D spending in AI may have already surpassed that of the United States. The greatest economic benefits from AI will come from our country.
