Four Key Points and Maintenance Guidelines for Spot Welding Robots

2026-04-06 01:57:39 · · #1

Spot welding robots have developed rapidly due to their high welding precision. If enterprises want to obtain higher efficiency, they need to extend the service life of spot welding robots. There are four key points to note in terms of maintenance.

The maintenance of spot welding robots can be roughly divided into four steps: cleaning, inspection, adjustment, and testing.

In routine maintenance, prevention should be the primary focus to avoid affecting the normal operation of the welding robot and reduce economic losses for the company.

clean

This refers to the cleaning of the surface of the spot welding robot, as well as the cleaning of each axis of the robot and the welding gun. The cleaning work is to prevent impurities from affecting the welding quality. If there are too many impurities in the welding gun, they will be carried to the surface of the workpiece when the welding material passes through the welding gun, causing welding defects on the surface of the workpiece and increasing the company's costs.

examine

This involves checking the robot's operation. If the spot welding robot malfunctions during the actual welding process, it can easily lead to extended production cycles and slow down the production process. During routine maintenance, if any screws become loose, they need to be tightened promptly to prevent accidents that could cause injury.

Adjustment

This involves timely updates to the control system of spot welding robots. Updating welding parameters can achieve stable welding. Companies also need to provide regular training to operators to improve their technical skills.

test

Before welding can begin, inspection is required. Mass production can only proceed after the welding effect is satisfactory. Spot welding robots are widely used in various fields due to their advantages such as high production efficiency, low cost, good welding quality, and high welding precision. They can be seen everywhere in many modern production workshops, helping companies to stabilize welding quality.

Specific maintenance and upkeep items may include the following aspects:

1. Daily inspection and maintenance

1) Wire feeding mechanism. This includes checking if the wire feeding torque is normal, if the wire feeding guide is damaged, and if there are any abnormal alarms;

2) Is the gas flow rate normal?

3) Check if the welding torch safety protection system is functioning properly (do not turn off the welding torch safety protection system);

4) Is the water circulation system working properly?

5) Test TCP (It is recommended to develop a test program and run it after each shift handover);

2. Weekly inspection and maintenance

1) Cleaning each axis of the robot;

2) Check the precision of TCP;

3) Check the level of the sludge removal oil;

4) Check if the zero position of each axis of the robot is accurate;

5) Clean the filter screen behind the welding machine's water tank;

6) Clean the filter screen at the compressed air inlet;

7) Clean impurities from the welding torch nozzle to prevent blockage of water circulation;

8) Clean the wire feeding mechanism, including the wire feeding roller, the wire pressing roller, and the wire guide tube;

9) Inspect the hose bundle and guide wire hose for damage or breakage. (It is recommended to remove the entire hose bundle and clean it with compressed air);

10) Check whether the welding torch safety protection system is normal and whether the external emergency stop button is normal.

3. Monthly inspection and maintenance

1) Lubricate all axes of the robot;

2) Grease the red nozzles on the RP positioner and RTS track;

3) Add gray conductive grease to the blue grease fitting on the RP positioner;

4) Lubricate the needle roller bearing of the wire feed wheel (a small amount of grease is sufficient);

5) Clean the cleaning device and add lubricating oil to the pneumatic motor (ordinary machine oil is sufficient);

6) Clean the control cabinet and welding machine with compressed air.

7) Check the cooling water level in the welding machine's water tank and replenish the coolant as needed (pure water with a small amount of industrial alcohol is sufficient);

8) In addition to completing tasks 1 to 8, perform all weekly inspections.
