What components does a robot need? Robot components are diverse and complex. The composition varies depending on the type and function of the robot, but most robots contain at least the following core components:

1. Drive unit:

• Servo motors: provide the motion power for robot joints, enabling precise control of speed, position, and acceleration.

• Reducers (such as harmonic reducers and RV reducers): convert the power of high-speed rotation of the motor into high torque output to drive the robot's joints to rotate.

2. Control system:

• Controller: Responsible for receiving instructions, parsing and executing actions, and controlling the robot's movement trajectory and actions.

• Sensors: such as encoders (to measure joint angles), torque sensors (to detect force and torque), vision sensors, sound sensors, distance sensors, etc., provide the robot with perception information about the external environment and its own state.

3. Mechanical structure:

• Joint module: A joint consisting of a motor, reducer, bearings, etc., which enables the robot arm to rotate flexibly.

• Boom or fuselage: A rigid structure used to support and connect the various joints.

• End-effectors: such as grippers, suction cups, welding guns, cutting tools, etc., customized according to the robot's application.

4. Power supply system:

• Battery or power supply: Provides a stable power source for the robot.

5. Communication System:

• Communication module: Enables the robot to connect with external devices, systems or networks, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, wired communication, etc.

6. Software System:

• Control software: including robot operating system, motion control software, programming interface, etc.

• Application software: Customized software developed according to specific application needs, such as path planning, visual recognition, and crawling strategies.

7. Auxiliary devices:

• Navigation systems: such as lidar and visual navigation systems, used for the positioning and navigation of autonomous mobile robots.

• Safety protection devices: such as safety fences, emergency stop buttons, safety sensors, etc., to ensure that the robot operates under safe conditions.

In addition, it includes other mechanical and electrical components such as cables, connectors, frames, bases, bearings, and slide rails. With the development of robotics technology, new robots may also incorporate more high-tech components, such as artificial intelligence chips and high-performance computing units, to achieve more complex intelligent functions.
