With the advent of the intelligent era, the research and application of various intelligent sensors have received increasing attention. Building upon traditional sensors, intelligent sensors offer more comprehensive functions and possess richer information processing capabilities. Intelligent sensors play a crucial role in industrial upgrading and innovative applications, including the Internet of Things, robotics, virtual reality (VR), and healthcare.
Intelligent sensors refer to sensors that possess information processing, information storage, logical thinking, information detection, and judgment functions. In innovative applications, typical new application areas for sensors include virtual reality/augmented reality, drones, and robotics.

A robot is a programmable, multi-functional manipulator, or a special system, that performs different tasks through computer-programmed actions and modifications. Robots require a large number of different types of sensors and generally consist of a drive unit, detection unit, control system, actuator, and complex mechanics. This places high demands on sensor performance. Robots are widely used in elderly care, industry, service sectors, education, and other fields. If sensors are well-developed, it will contribute to the development of elderly care, industry, and many other sectors, allowing the robotics industry to take off.
• Drones
The drone industry has experienced rapid development in a short period of time. Statistics show that drone shipments will reach 5 million units this year and exceed 10 million units next year. Sensors play a crucial role in the high integration and intelligence of drones. Drones utilize sensors such as gyroscopes, infrared, ultrasonic, laser, cameras, barometric pressure, and geomagnetic sensors to achieve technologically advanced and stable control and assisted navigation, as well as intelligent control features such as obstacle avoidance, identification, and tracking.
•China's sensor industry
The sensor industry has high barriers to entry and involves significant investment and risk. The world's largest and most innovative countries in the sensor field are primarily the United States, Germany, Italy, and France.
With the advent of the intelligent era, the sensor industry has ushered in a rare historical opportunity. Sensors will reach a new level of development, provided this opportunity is seized. For China's sensor industry, it faces enormous challenges and shoulders immense responsibilities. Therefore, China needs to seek breakthroughs in the following areas: improving small-batch, low-cost mass production capabilities; packaging and testing equipment and systems; localization of processing equipment and consumables; multi-material composite technology; battery technology; and wireless passive sensors; and improving sensor accuracy. Simultaneously, not only equipment and components are needed, but also testing and processing are indispensable for building a robust intelligent sensor industry ecosystem. The level of China's intelligent sensor industry needs to be elevated through a powerful industrial ecosystem.
