Industrial PCs are computer devices widely used in industrial automation and control. Due to the often harsh environments they operate in, they require special protective features such as dustproofing, moisture resistance, and shockproofing. Industrial PCs typically use customized hardware and operating systems to ensure their stability and security. Compared to ordinary desktop computers, industrial PCs often need to run unattended for extended periods, therefore they possess special functions such as automatic power-on and automatic restart.
When using an industrial PC, accessing the desktop typically requires using the F1-F12 keys or the Ctrl+Alt+Del key combination. However, for a more convenient way, a desktop shortcut can be set. We will explain how to use this shortcut on an industrial PC.
We need to access the Control Panel. Find the Control Panel in the Start menu and click to enter. In the Control Panel, find the "Keyboard" icon and click it.
In the keyboard window, you'll see the "Shortcut Keys" tab. Click "Shortcut Keys," and then click the "New" button.
In the pop-up "Create New Shortcut" window, we can set the shortcut key parameters. Select "Program" in "Type," and then select the program or file we want to open quickly in "Project Location." To quickly open the desktop, enter "C:\Users\username\Desktop" in "Project Location," where "username" refers to the name of the currently logged-in user. In the "Shortcut Key" field, select the desired shortcut key combination, such as Ctrl+Alt+D. Click the "OK" button to save the settings.
Once set up, simply press the selected keyboard shortcut to easily access the desktop. To change the settings, simply repeat the above steps.
By setting desktop shortcuts, we can access the desktop more quickly, improving our efficiency in using industrial control computers. Familiarity with this method is essential.
