An industrial PC is a specialized computer device that integrates computer and controller functions, and is widely used in industrial control, automated production, and scientific research. With the popularization of multimedia technology and the continuous expansion of application scenarios, more and more users need to connect industrial PCs to television screens.
A network cable connection is a common method. Below is an introduction on how to connect an industrial computer to a TV screen using a network cable.
Prepare connecting cables
To connect the industrial control computer and the TV screen, you'll need to purchase some appropriate cables. Common cables include network cables, HDMI cables, and VGA cables. Network cables are the simplest and most common connection method; you only need one RJ45 network cable.
Understanding the definition and types of network cables
RJ45 network cables, also known as UTP network cables, are unshielded twisted-pair network cables. They have four specially made pairs of wires, each pair with a different color conductor, which are interleaved to reduce electromagnetic interference. Network cables are divided into straight-through cables and crossover cables. Straight-through cables are further divided into Type A and Type B cables. Generally, straight-through cables (Type A or Type B) are used when connecting a television to an industrial control computer. Crossover cables are used to connect two computers or network devices.
Insert network cable
Before plugging in the network cable, turn off the power to both the industrial PC and the TV screen, and place them in the same location. Insert the RJ45 port of the network cable into the network card slot in the industrial PC, and the other end into the network slot in the TV screen. For users who need to use multiple screens for expansion, they can purchase a network switch or router to connect multiple TV screens together and control multiple screens to play content simultaneously through a single industrial PC.
Adjust settings
After plugging in the network cable, you need to configure the industrial PC's operating system. If you are using Windows, find "Network and Sharing Center" in the Control Panel, locate the industrial PC's local connection, right-click and select "Properties." Then, in the "General" tab, set Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically," and save the settings. Set the industrial PC's network card and the TV screen's LAN IP address to the same subnet. For example, if the industrial PC's IP address is 19160.10 and the subnet mask is 2525250, and the TV screen's IP address is 19160.20, they will be on the same intranet.
Enjoy the fun of multimedia
After completing the above settings, you can use the industrial PC to play the multimedia content you need, such as movies, music, pictures, and documents. In Windows, you can use the shortcut Win+P to select the working mode, including Duplicate Screen, Extended Screen, Use TV Screen Only, and Use Industrial PC Screen Only. Selecting Duplicate Screen will completely copy the content from the industrial PC to the TV screen; selecting Extended Screen will enable multi-screen display, showing different content on both the industrial PC and the TV screen simultaneously.
