What to do if the industrial control computer won't turn on?

With the continuous advancement of technology, industrial PCs have become widely used high-end automation equipment. Sometimes, we encounter the problem of them failing to open. This can be quite troublesome for users, but by following some basic steps, the problem can usually be quickly resolved. Below, we will discuss solutions for industrial PCs that cannot be opened.

Check power supply and wiring

The most common reason an industrial PC fails to start is a power supply issue. You need to check if the power supply is on and if the power cord is connected correctly. After confirming that the power supply and cord are fine, try using different outlets to test if the power supply is faulty. If the power supply problem persists, replacing the power supply is a good option.

Check the monitor signal

If the power supply is working properly, check if the monitor can receive signals from the industrial computer. You can check if the monitor's backlight is on or connect another computer to the monitor to determine if the problem lies with the monitor. If the monitor still does not respond, you can try adjusting the monitor's brightness and contrast to check if the display is abnormal, or refer to a list to check if these settings are correct.

Check the motherboard

If the power supply and monitor are both working properly, the problem likely lies with the motherboard. Assuming you have experience repairing computers yourself, you can open the case and inspect the motherboard for obvious signs of burning or bulging capacitors. If the industrial PC is still under warranty, it's recommended to contact customer service directly for repair or motherboard replacement.

Check hard drive storage space

During continuous operation of an industrial control computer, storing all local computer sandboxes and data can lead to insufficient use of the internal solid-state drive (SSD). Insufficient SSD space can cause the system to fail to boot. Therefore, a further troubleshooting method is to clean the hard drive using bootable recovery systems to restore normal production status. Regular hard drive cleaning and maintenance should be performed to prevent similar problems from occurring during production.

When your industrial PC fails to start, remain calm. Do not attempt to disassemble or replace the equipment yourself, as this may damage the device and void your warranty. Start with some basic steps, such as checking the power supply, wiring, monitor, and motherboard, to pinpoint the problem and then address it accordingly. By systematically eliminating possibilities, you should be able to quickly identify and resolve the root cause of the problem.
