Industrial control computers (ICCs) are being used more and more widely, and their performance and configurations are becoming increasingly complex. Before using an ICC, an operating system needs to be installed. This article will introduce the steps and methods for installing an operating system on an ICC.

Preparation

Before installing the system, you need to prepare several tools and equipment. You will need a computer with an operating system already installed to create a bootable disk; an empty USB flash drive or CD to create an installation disk; and a system image file compatible with the industrial control computer.

Creating a bootable disk

Prepare a USB flash drive with a capacity of more than 4GB or a DVD.

Open the disk management tool on your computer's hard drive and format the USB drive or CD to FAT32 format.

Download and install a USB boot disk creation tool, such as Rufus, to create a bootable USB drive.

Launch the creation tool and select the image file and USB drive or CD to begin creating the bootable disk.

Install system

Insert the prepared boot disk into the industrial computer and start the computer.

Enter the BIOS settings interface and set the USB flash drive or CD as the first boot option in the boot options.

Restart your computer to enter the system installation interface.

Follow the prompts to install the system, selecting the installation mode, disk partition, username, password, and other installation parameters.

After installation, restart your computer to enter the system interface.

Install necessary drivers

After installing the system, you will also need to install some necessary drivers. These drivers allow the hardware devices to work properly with the system, ensuring the performance and functionality of the industrial control computer.

The industrial computer model and hardware configuration information need to be determined.

Visit the official website of the industrial PC and download the driver corresponding to your industrial PC model and system version.

Save the driver to the local hard drive.

Install the driver for your hardware device through Device Manager or the Devices and Printers tab in Control Panel.

Restart your computer and check if the hardware is working properly.

System updates and optimizations

After installing the system and drivers, you also need to update and optimize the system to ensure its stability and security.

Visit the Windows Update website to download the latest security patches and updates.

Install security patches and updates to ensure system vulnerabilities are patched.

Improve system performance and responsiveness by cleaning up junk files and optimizing system settings.

Installing an industrial PC system requires a certain level of technical skill and experience, but as long as you follow the steps and methods above, you can complete the task smoothly. After the system is installed, it is also necessary to continuously update and optimize it to keep the industrial PC in optimal condition.
