This connection method, also known as extended mode, allows for the expansion of the display screen, making it more convenient for engineers to monitor and operate data.

Step 1: Prepare the connecting cable
We need to prepare a signal cable to connect the industrial PC and the laptop. Generally, this type of cable is an HDMI to VGA cable (or HDMI to DVI cable), because industrial PCs usually have an HDMI interface, while laptops have a VGA interface (or DVI interface), as shown in the picture below:
Step 2: Insert the connecting cable
Insert the HDMI plug of the cable into the HDMI port of the industrial computer, and the VGA (or DVI) plug on the other side into the corresponding port on the laptop. See the diagram below:
Note that when inserting the connection cable, both the industrial computer and the laptop must be turned off and the power cord disconnected to avoid short circuits and overvoltage that could damage the equipment.
Step 3: Set the display mode
After connecting, start your laptop and enter the operating system. Normally, the laptop will automatically detect the external monitor and display extended mode on the desktop.
