The LeadStudio platform supports co-simulation with Leadshine HMI, allowing for the simulation of PLC and HMI communication without the need for a physical PLC and touchscreen.
Two major advantages of co-simulation
Advantage 1
Intuitive PLC logic verification without hardware
Simple PLC simulation cannot intuitively simulate actual PLC logic, especially when the PLC logic is associated with many switches and variables. Simulating PLC logic in software becomes very unintuitive. With HMI co-simulation, PLC logic simulation can be performed more intuitively. All simulation results are displayed in real time on the HMI simulator, consistent with communication between a physical PLC and a touch screen.

Quickly verify the HMI screen
Through co-simulation, users can quickly verify the HMI screen, such as whether the address associated with the PLC is correct, and whether the pop-ups and effects on the screen meet expectations. Users do not need to repeatedly download the HMI program for repeated verification, which saves users a lot of time in HMI screen verification.
01. LeadStudio Platform Configuration
1) Configure the PLC as a Modbus TCP slave station.
2) Add the PLC direct address participating in the communication test to the monitoring list.
3) Start PLC simulation
4) Log in and run the PLC
02. Leadshine HMI Configuration
1) Open LT Studio software and add a network PLC, as shown in the following figure:
2) Add a numeric input element to the HMI screen.
3) Start the online simulation
03. Communication Testing
1) In the HMI simulator of LT Studio, enter a value into the input box.
2) The value of the corresponding direct address in the PLC will be modified accordingly.
