How to maintain RV lithium-ion batteries in winter

With the onset of winter, some RV owners may move to other locations to continue their RV adventures. However, some homes cannot be moved, meaning their RVs may be immobilized, forcing these RV owners to go into hibernation. The RV's lithium-ion battery will be in a dormant state, making its protection and maintenance crucial. Due to prolonged storage and low temperatures, the lithium-ion battery can be damaged if it is not replenished with power promptly.

In RV, you can go without water, you can buy it, but if there's no electricity, there's no time to do it. Today we have a great discussion about RV lithium-ion batteries, which have a larger capacity than traditional car battery systems.

Proper battery use and maintenance are important. Some RV owners use their vehicles relatively infrequently. In fact, most RVs don't have long commutes and will be idle for extended periods, only being driven on weekends when time permits. If the vehicle isn't started, the battery will be used for a long time. You must turn off all power to the RV and check for any discharge current from the battery. If there is, it means you haven't turned off all electrical appliances. Even turning off high-power appliances can drain the battery.

The built-in battery can shield against discharge, but prolonged periods without charging will still affect battery life. A battery is a chemical product, and long-term use will keep it in a relatively active state; otherwise, the lifespan of the battery's chemical substances will be extended.

We analyze the automatic charging operation at least once a week. If the battery has an unusual odor, makes abnormal noises, or emits smoke, and is not in use, please call the manufacturer immediately to request a free replacement.

What is the correct environment for storing batteries? The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 20 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 50 degrees Celsius. Therefore, park your RV in a shady spot or build a canopy over it to prevent damage from the summer heat. Store batteries in a dry environment, avoiding damp or drafty areas, and keep windows and skylights closed.
