The reasons for misalignment and conical shape of the separator in cylindrical lithium-ion batteries:

(1) Are the coiled needles concentric?

(2) The coiling needle is not perpendicular to the substrate;

(3) The final transition rollers of the upper and lower diaphragms are not perpendicular to the substrate;

(4) The rollers are not parallel;

(5) The diaphragm material is not up to standard.

Repair methods for misaligned and conical separators in cylindrical lithium-ion batteries:

(1) Use 3.5 or 4*100 round steel with an accuracy error of 10um and needle coil sleeve to measure the concentricity between the two shafts;

(2) After the concentricity measurement is completed, use a measuring tool for measuring perpendicularity and a right-angle ruler to measure the perpendicularity between the coil needle and the large plate (at least two directions must be perpendicular).

(3) Use a right-angle ruler to calibrate the perpendicularity of the final transition rollers of the upper and lower diaphragms;

(If the roller is indeed not perpendicular to the substrate, shims can be added until it is perpendicular, and then marked; Note: Shims should not be added randomly unless absolutely necessary.)

(4) First loosen the screws of the rubber roller and the stainless steel roller, align them to be parallel and perpendicular to the substrate, and then tighten them;

(5) Replace the diaphragm feed material.

2. Electrode misalignment and conical shape in cylindrical lithium-ion battery production

Reason for failure

(1) Are the coiled needles concentric?

(2) The coiling needle is not perpendicular to the substrate;

(3) The electrode guide plate is neither perpendicular nor parallel to the substrate;

(4) The final transition roller of the electrode sheet is not perpendicular to the substrate;

(5) The incoming material has excessively wavy edges.

Repair methods

(1) The concentricity between two equal quantities of 3.5 and 4*100 round steel with an accuracy error of 10um and the needle coil sleeve;

(2) After the concentricity measurement is completed, use a measuring tool for measuring perpendicularity and a right-angle ruler to measure the perpendicularity between the coil needle and the large plate (at least two directions must be perpendicular).

(3) Ensure the perpendicularity and parallelism between the electrode guide plate and the substrate;

(4) Use a right-angle ruler to calibrate the perpendicularity of the final transition roller over the electrode sheet;

(If the roller is indeed not perpendicular to the substrate, shims can be added until it is perpendicular, and then marked; Note: Shims should not be added randomly unless absolutely necessary.)

(5) Replace the electrode.

3. Poor adhesive bonding during the production of cylindrical lithium-ion batteries

Reason for failure

(1) Apply adhesive and wrinkle;

(2) Missing stickers;

(3) The tape transition roller is not flexible;

Repair methods

(1) When applying the material, loosen the screws on the adhesive fixing plate and lift it up slightly, trying to make it contact the center of the battery cell;

(2) First check whether the adhesive roller is tightly attached to the battery cell, whether the tape pressing adjustment plate is loose, whether the feeding guide roller is too high, whether the cylinder air pressure is stable, whether the cylinder adjusting distance screw is loose, and whether the upper clamping roller presses the tape tightly;

(3) The wheel in front of the adhesive applicator collides with the lower support, which sometimes prevents the adhesive from being applied during the rolling process. When the collision occurs, the lower support may be flexible but unable to go down, and it may not be able to press down when the material is fed, which will cause occasional failure to apply the adhesive.

(4) Check if the one-way bearing of the transition roller is installed backwards, loosen the locking sleeve of the transition roller, and adjust the transition roller.

4. Misalignment of electrode sheets and separators during the production of cylindrical lithium-ion batteries.

Reason for failure

(1) The unevenness on both sides of the lower support wheel is the cause;

(2) The electrode guide plate is neither perpendicular nor parallel to the substrate;
