2. Prevent overcharging. There are strict requirements for charger selection. If a charger lacks a function to disconnect the power after the battery is fully charged, the ternary lithium-ion battery may continue charging even after it is fully charged, which can damage the battery. Furthermore, prolonged use of a charger can also cause the battery to continue charging even after it is fully charged. Therefore, someone should supervise the charging of lithium-ion batteries to prevent battery malfunctions and potential explosions that could cause injury.
3. Prevent over-discharge. Over-discharging a ternary polymer lithium-ion battery will directly affect its lifespan. If the battery capacity is 2200mAh, the maximum limit is to charge it for 1600mAh after fully discharging. Generally, batteries are best discharged to a capacity of 1300mAh to 1600mAh; following this charging and discharging method will extend the battery's lifespan.
4. Avoid storing fully charged batteries. If a battery is fully charged, it cannot be stored for more than three days. After a week, the battery will bulge. Alternatively, the battery may not bulge initially, but will bulge after several subsequent charging cycles. If the battery will not be used for a long time, it is best to discharge it to 3.85V to maintain its optimal storage condition.
5. Precharge. Lithium-ion battery manufacturers store freshly manufactured lithium-ion batteries for a certain period before releasing them for sale. This allows the electrochemical performance of the internal components of the lithium-ion battery to stabilize, ensuring battery quality. Therefore, it is essential to charge the batteries before use.
