What is a power lithium battery? Many people may not be very familiar with the concept of power lithium batteries. However, we know that lithium-ion batteries are classified into two categories: capacity-type lithium-ion batteries and power-type lithium-ion batteries. The power lithium battery we're discussing today is the power-type lithium-ion battery. Of course, power lithium batteries are not limited to lithium-ion batteries; lead-acid, nickel-metal hydride, and other types of batteries can also be called power lithium batteries as long as they meet the standards. Today, we'll focus on power lithium-ion batteries. So, what kind of lithium-ion battery can be called a power lithium battery? How does it differ from a regular capacity-type battery?

What is a power lithium battery?

From the current market perspective, power lithium batteries are a core component of new energy electric vehicles. It is precisely because of the development of new energy electric vehicles that power lithium batteries were discovered. In terms of structure and function, power lithium batteries can be explained as lithium-ion batteries that use thicker electrodes and separators than ordinary batteries, capable of withstanding high-rate discharge. Of course, this is just a simplified understanding, but it basically outlines some characteristics of power lithium batteries. Next, let's look at the differences between this type of power lithium-ion battery and ordinary lithium-ion batteries.

1. Application Areas

As mentioned above, power lithium batteries are primarily used in electric vehicles to supply power. This includes lead-acid batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries, among others, that meet the standards for power lithium batteries and can be used in electric vehicles. This has led to the transformation of many companies in China, and the number of power lithium battery manufacturers is constantly increasing. Ordinary batteries, on the other hand, are mainly used in small or micro electronic devices such as lights, computers, and mobile phones. These batteries primarily use lithium-ion batteries, polymer batteries, and the like.

2. Discharge rate

Unlike ordinary small batteries, power lithium-ion batteries can generally achieve a discharge rate of 12C-50C, which is impossible for ordinary batteries, which can only reach a rate of about 2.5C at most. This is why they can be called power lithium batteries.

3. Capacity

This is also a shortcoming of power lithium batteries. Currently, the most difficult technological bottlenecks to overcome in the new energy industry are battery capacity and fast charging technology. Precisely because of this, the development of power lithium batteries is currently facing significant challenges, and these technological bottlenecks are difficult to break through. Their capacity is much smaller than that of ordinary batteries, but it is believed that the industry will soon accelerate its development and find a breakthrough in capacity, bringing about a significant transformation in the field of power lithium batteries. Dongguan Jueda Electronics Co., Ltd. has also established a special lithium battery cell research institute, dedicated to the research and development of special lithium battery cells, making a significant contribution to the development of power lithium batteries.
