Abstract: This paper elucidates the characteristics, functional division, and interfaces of software chips. Taking the developed CNC system for boring and milling machines as an example, it provides a detailed explanation of the reconfiguration process of an open CNC system based on software chips. Keywords: CNC system; software reuse; software chip; chip management Introduction Modular design and development of CNC systems, enabling them to have hardware and software reconfiguration capabilities, improving system maintainability and expandability, reducing development costs , and shortening development cycles, is undoubtedly the only way to improve the market adaptability of CNC machine tools. Software chipization of CNC systems refers to establishing a CNC system software chip library similar to hardware chips by dividing the functions of the CNC system. When building a new CNC system, only the corresponding modules need to be taken from the software chip library and combined. Expansion can be made as needed, without having to develop the entire system from scratch. This changes the current closed design of CNC systems, greatly improving the flexibility of the entire system. It effectively realizes the open design and resource reuse of CNC systems, and has excellent development prospects for timely upgrades and replacements of CNC systems and timely market response.
