Abstract : This paper analyzes the economic benefits of converting the condensate pumps of Guangzhou Power Plant to variable frequency speed control, and analyzes the problems of heat radiation and vibration of the cabinet after the conversion, and proposes solutions. It can serve as a reference for the application of similar frequency converters. Keywords: Inverter , Economic benefits, Heat radiation, Vibration Guangzhou Power Plant was first built in 1935. After several renovations and expansions, it now has four 60MW extraction gas heating units (Units #1 to #4) and one 25MW waste heat comprehensive utilization unit (Additional Unit). It is the main heating power plant in Guangzhou. The centralized gas supply has not only made a great contribution to the environmental protection of Guangzhou, but also created certain economic benefits. In the current challenging environment of competitive bidding for grid connection and rising coal prices, to enhance our competitiveness and generate better economic benefits, we must vigorously promote energy-saving and consumption-reducing renovations to ensure safe and increased power generation. Since 2003, our plant has implemented a series of energy-saving and consumption-reducing renovation projects, including the conversion of condensate pump motors to variable frequency drives (VFDs) using ABB Electric Drives Systems Ltd.'s ACS800 VFDs, which has yielded significant energy-saving results. However, some problems arose during operation. After analysis and research, and summarizing lessons learned, targeted solutions were proposed. Currently, all condensate pumps are operating well using the VFDs.
